(Dân trí) - HCM City People's Committee has approved in principle the construction project of two public transportation routes by waterway proposed by Daily Co., Ltd.
Bach Dang Wharf, the location is proposed by Daily Co., Ltd as the central terminal of the first river bus route in the City
As proposal of Daily Company offered to participate in building pilot two initial river bus routes. If effectively, we will proceed to expand. The company realizes that if successful project will contribute to solve traffic jams on roads and take advantage of many rivers - canals of the city.
Specifically, two initial river bus lines that Daily Company wants to build pilot the route along the Saigon River linking Linh Dong (Thu Duc) with Bach Dang Wharf (District 1); route along Ben Nghe canal - Tau Hu linking District 8 with Bach Dang Wharf (District 1). Each route is 11km in length. Total investment capital is VND 58 billion project to build 04 multi-purposed terminals and 08 stations. To buy eight passenger ships (capacity of 80 passengers per ship) as a mean of transport ... In particular, the company proposed the city support to build 08 stations along 02 lines (worth about VND 12 billion).
Daily Company plans two river bus lines that can transport about 10,000 passengers per day. Ticket fare has been proposed by the project VND 15,000 per way, higher than ticket fare of road bus from 3-5 times. If including the stopped time to pick passenger up, just 30 minutes to take passengers from two suburban districts (Thu Duc, District 8) to the center city (District 1), only 2/ 3 of time of road bus and not be prolonged by traffic jams.
Under the project, if these two pilot lines has positive results, the company will process stage 2, building new lines such as Bach - Te Canal - Phu My Hung; Mieu - Binh Loi - Fatima - Binh Trieu - Thanh Da - Thao Dien; routes linking Ho Chi Minh with the neighboring provinces such as Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An ... In the present, HCM City People’s Committee assigned Department of Transportation & Traffic to preside, coordinate with other departments-agencies and People's Committees of relevant districts - to consider & assess content of the proposed project; unify proposal to submit People’s Committee’s decision.
