According to Daily Company’s information, the form of river bus transport used by many countries in the world. In big cities like London, Paris, Bangkok, tourists use this transport about 50%. However, with the current streets in Saigon, the company expects tourists to come to HCMC with trip on the Saigon River about 30%, the remaining 70% is in traffic.
Most people hope Daily Company will succeed by this revolutionary step and will definitely be difficult because if it were easy, it would be carried out by many other enterprises.
Two river bus routes depart from Bach Dang Wharf (District 1) along Saigon River to Linh Dong Ward, Thu Duc District (Route 1) and along the Ben Nghe Channel - Tau Hu to District 8 (Route 2 .)
Both routes are 11 km long route. If including stopped time to pick passenger up, just 30 minutes to complete the bus route, bringing passengers from two suburban districts (Thu Duc, District 8) to the center (District 1), only by 2/ 3 of the time of road buses. To carry out 02 river bus routes, the company will build four multi-purposed wharves and 08 stations for embarkation/ disembarkation. In stage 1, the company will equip eight passenger ships with a carrying capacity of 80 passengers per ship, be capable of carrying about 10 thousand passengers per day. Total investment capital for the project is VND 58 billion.
Routes building transportation system by waterway are proposed by Daily Company including two stages. First route, pilot investment focus on inner city routes. Later stage expansion & development link the entire city with the belt routes, connected to other urban centers such as Long An, Thu Dau Mot, Nhon Trach, Bien Hoa, Vung Tau ...
With this model, suddenly remembered about Hanoi with the idea of building "Hermaphrodite underground”. It means that it will be inner road traffic; but with heavy rain, risk of flooding is occurring, it will be emergency drainage. Both are similar in ideas occurred after the constraint cannot stand in life and also not need create anything because there are plenty of countries apply & succeed.
It is hard to have a vision. Anyway, welcome river bus!
