Opening pilot two river bus routes

(LĐ) - May 30th, Mr. Tran The Ky-Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transportation & Traffic said after surveying the routes and travelling needs of passengers, Department of Transportation & Traffic is holding to get ideas for opening pilot 02 river bus routes proposed by Daily Company.

Two pilot lines expected including route from Binh Quoi wharf (Thu Duc) to Bach Dang Wharf (District 1) and route Ben Nghe-Tau Hu (from Bach Dang Wharf along the canals of East West Avenue and ends at area of Lo Gom bridge).

According to calculations, route Binh Quoi - Bach Dang Wharf has a plenty of large demand for travelling which helps to reduce traffic jams on roads such as Binh Trieu crossroads, Eastern coach station, intersection Dinh Bo Linh – Bach Dang; route Ben Nghe-Tau Hu will attract tourists to enjoy scenes on the river and associated services with shopping at the trade center - is being built along East – West Avenue...

To invest for two lines have to invest in means of transport with capacity about 80 seats/ boat, along 02 routes built 04 multi-function piers (disembarkation/ embarkation, parking, business services ...) and 12 stations (only to serve disembarkation/ embarkation).

The total investment cost is estimated at USD 60 billion. In particular, Daily Company will invest one part and propose City’s support one part of the expenses. Ticket price is expected 15,000 per passenger.
